After Hours Care


 
POLICY:
 
The patient receives verbal and written information which 
explains how to contact the physician, if needed, after 
hours.  Scheduled physician or physician designee contact 
with the patient on a post-surgical basis i.e., post 
operative call back will occur via telephone at the location 
the patient has given as his/her place of recovery.
 
 
PROCEDURE:
 
Should the physician wish for the patient to be seen as a 
result of any post-surgical telephone contact, the patient 
will be sent to the nearest emergency room or other facility 
of the physician's choice.
 
Documentation of this occurrence will be described in the 
patient's medical record with 24 hours.
