Mechanism for Follow-Up of Patient No-Shows
 

POLICY:
 

A follow-up system for broken appointments is used.
 
PROCEDURE:
 
When a procedure is cancelled, the following steps will be 
taken:
 
1.  If the patient is a no show, an attempt to contact the
    patient will be made to find out the reason the patient
    did not show for procedure.  The surgeon is notified of
    the cancellation including the name of the patient and 
    the type of procedure scheduled.
 
2.  If the patient contacts the facility to cancel the 
    appointment, the surgeon is notified of the
    cancellation including the name of the patient and the 
    type of procedure scheduled.
 
3.  Staff will ascertain from the surgeon if the patient
    should be re-scheduled
